Glazing Test Tile - JS 001

To-Qi

Updated: Jun 16, 2020

We will be posting all our test tile results and recipes here over the next few weeks!

Method to catalog our test tiles:

JS = John's Satin 2 (name of glaze recipe)

001 = Test tile number

Clay Body: Porcelain

Firing Temperature: Cone 6, 2165 degrees F

Firing Atmosphere: Oxidation

Firing Mode: Skutt Electric Kiln, Medium Speed

Glaze Specific Density: 1.40

John's Satin 2 Blue Celadon - this turned out a spotty yellow in Cone 6 oxidation. If you fire it in reduction, you should get a nice translucent Blue Celadon. We are still mixing a few recipes towards a Blue Celadon result and will post this once we succeed!
